Poem: I Saw the Glow of Sunrise

When I awoke this morning,
I saw the glow of sunrise.
My ears heard the birds sweet song,
Deaf to me for too, too long.

A school bus stopped, horn honking.
A young boy ran from his home.
To the pleasure of my eyes,
Bare branches against the sky.

Although I wish I could text
Or tweet or call or reach out,
Your absence no longer haunts me.
Finally my heart is free.
